God Sends Revival- Real Revival Anyway

The very notion that we ‘engineer‘ revival shows how far we’ve strayed from the truth that God is Lord. Michael is right to write

A revival is God’s quickening visitation of his people, touching their hearts and deepening his work of grace in their lives. It therefore begins with one person -a Sovereign God. He alone can regenerate a sin infested soul, birth it anew causing it to live and sustain it. Why does He stoop so low? Why does He even care about sinners? Well God is not willing that any of His own should perish. In short, a revival shows itself to be genuine by its effects upon the religious, the fraternal and the missionary life of the church.

If the heretic Benny Hinn thinks the death of Graham will bring revival he’s wrong. But then he’s always wrong and that he has followers proves how far they’re distant from true Christianity.

Lot’s of Christians Can Only Handle ‘Milk’

As the author of Hebrews rightly observed (in Ch 5)-

11 We have a lot to say about this topic, and it’s difficult to explain, because you have been lazy and you have’t been listening. 12 Although you should have been teachers by now, you need someone to teach you an introduction to the basics about God’s message. You have come to the place where you need milk instead of solid food. 13 Everyone who lives on milk is not used to the word of righteousness, because they are babies. 14 But solid food is for the mature, whose senses are trained by practice to distinguish between good and evil.  (CEB)

The inability of many to distinguish between good doctrine and bad, good biblical exegesis and bad, good theology and bad, is all too common these days (as in ancient times as well).  That’s exactly why people like Mark Driscoll, Ted Haggard, TD Jakes, Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers, and the bevy of heretics presently passing themselves off as Christian teachers get away with it and aren’t ‘called out’ by either their churches or the Church at large.

Even many Pastors are too often bereft of the ability to discern the spirits (and probably don’t even recognize that as a biblical phrase).  Churches are in trouble, Christians are in trouble, and the truth is in trouble because too many are satisfied with milk – with remaining infants in doctrinal and biblical studies – and don’t ‘grow up’ to the point where they can handle deeper spiritual truths.

If one thing needs to be said to American Christianity today it’s this: grow up!

That’s Not What ‘Laying on of Hands’ Means, ‘Pastor’

Hinn has a fan in Ghana...

A ‘pastor’ in Ghana evidently thought when the Bible discusses the laying on of hands, it was meant to be taken sexually.  Bad exegesis always leads to bad behavior!

A 29-year-old self-styled Man of God has been nabbed by the Adenta District Police Command for allegedly inserting his fingers into the private parts of five women under the pretext of praying for them.  Prophet Richard Addo, who claims to be a member of Word Miracle Church at Nungua, a suburb of Accra, was arrested after one of the women boldly reported the incident to the police.

Ladies, seriously, your first clue that the ‘man of God’ is a reprobate is him calling himself ‘Prophet’.  Run, child, run!

According to information available to DAILY GUIDE, Prophet Addo also charged the women various amounts of money ranging from GH¢150 to GH¢200 and as well tried to ravage their bodies.

??????  He charged them to molest them?  He sounds like a televangelist.

Another victim also narrated that Prophet Richard Addo after meeting her, said it had been revealed to him that she was barren.  “He made me to pay GH¢200 for olive oil and the rest to be used as prayer request fees.”  She maintained that Prophet Richard Addo inserted four of his fingers into her private parts while praying for her.

Ok I don’t mean to sound cruel but why in the world would ANYONE take that?  Are they bereft of knowledge that such behavior is wrong or are they under some sort of voodoo spell or something?  Is the guy that masterful a manipulator?  If so, he really does belong on Benny Hinn’s team.  Or Joel Osteen’s.  Or are pentebabbleists just prone to believe the stupid?

There’s more but I can’t bear to repeat it.  Via Antonio.

Televangelists… And their Misdeeds

Deceiver at large

Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa has concluded a three-year probe into alleged lavish spending at six major broadcast ministries, and asked a prominent evangelical group to study ways to spur “self-reform” among religious groups.  …  On Thursday (Jan. 6), he released a final 61-page review that said evangelists Benny Hinn of Texas and Joyce Meyer of Missouri had made “significant reforms” to their operations, but four others provided incomplete or no responses.

Interestingly

Among their findings:

  • Insiders in Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Fort Worth, Texas, said they were intimidated from speaking with committee staff, with one former employee saying they were told “God will blight our finances” if they talked.
  • Georgia pastor Creflo Dollar’s ministry was called the “least cooperative,” with staffers unable to determine the names of board members.
  • The majority of questions asked by Grassley staffers of Bishop Eddie Long’s megachurch in Lithonia, Ga., remained unanswered, including the amount of his salary.
  • Several former staffers at Paula White’s megachurch in Tampa, Fla., wanted to speak with staffers but “were afraid of being sued by the church,” and at least one was reminded by a church lawyer of a previously signed confidentiality agreement.

Looks like they have something to hide. But this is no surprise to any of us, is it. Money corrupts. The love of money corrupts absolutely.
