Is Jesus Really Kosher?

Larry Schiffman’s longer review of Kosher Jesus titled ‘Is Jesus Really Kosher’ begins on page 8 of the Long Island Jewish World Magazine and you should give it a look.  A shorter version appeared earlier and was noted here.

with thanks to Prof. Schiffman for telling me about it

  1. It’s about time something like this was posted. All too often repentant Christians scholars do more to harm ecumenical dialogue than further it by essentially painting Jesus a stereotypical Rabbi and doing injustice to the relationship between the first century Galilean and the movement he inspired.
True dialogue can only be done when both parties come to the table as themselves and learn to truly appreciate the other in all their differences and similarities. Historical scholarship can help Christian-Jewish dialogue not by conforming one group to the other, but by showing the common roots of both movements in the diverse world of Second Temple Judaism.
