Sad News: The Passing of Michael Knibb

Paul Joyce notes on facebook-

Saddened to learn of the death this week of Michael Knibb, Samuel Davidson Professor Emeritus at King’s College London. Michael was on the staff at King’s for many years, originally appointed as Lecturer in 1964. He was a scholar of distinction, focusing especially on Ethiopic literature and on the Septuagint, and a was Fellow of the British Academy.

He retired in 2001 as Head of the School of Arts and Humanities, and was a Fellow of the College.

In later years, after I moved to King’s, I treasured London lunches with Michael over a glass of wine. He was always immensely supportive and wise. And he maintained contacts across King’s, to which he remained devoted.

Michael will be sadly missed by so many.

He died December 6, 2023.

King’s College has a bit about him regarding his publications and work.  May he rest in peace.
