Circle of Death
Sometimes we imagine that there’s something out there called ‘duplicity’ and something else called ‘ignorance’ and we like to pretend that they are just occasional interlopers.
But we’re wrong. Duplicity and ignorance aren’t just things- they are realities and they have manifested themselves in human form in the person of Sarah Palin. She isn’t duplicitous, she is duplicity. Likewise, she isn’t ignorant, she’s ignorance.
Oh sure, there are Americans who have been deceived by her apparent charm and wit (and even a few sadly deceived and tragically blind Irish clerics) but peel off the facade of speech-prep and trying-as-hard-as-they-can-to-make-her-sound-intelligent writers and what’s left is duplicity and ignorance in the very flesh.
Scene 1: Van Susteren asks Palin about the presidential-ambition denials of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
Palin: “I think that we can take Gov. Christie at his word…. He kinda put the nail in the coffin of speculation that he would run [with] the announcement he made today.” Palin goes on to say, “I think that a lot of the push for Chris Christie and for others comes not just from those within the party but the inside baseball within the media.”
Scene No. 2: Van Susteren asks Palin how the presidential race should be covered. How to cover the races?
Palin: “There’s a lot of information out there—a lot of white noise …we learned our lesson in electing Barack Obama, who was not vetted by the media. The media did not do its job in the last go-round.”
Scene No. 5: Van Susteren probes Palin’s decision-making considerations regarding the GOP bid.
Palin: “I keep repeating that decisionmaking as to whether I should throw my name in the hat for the GOP nomination or not for 2012” boils down to: “Does a title shackle a person—are they someone like me who’s maverick, you know, I do go rogue.”
Scene No. 6: Van Susteren asks if Palin thinks she could win.In other words: The maverick is back.
Palin: “I do!”
In other words: This is what Fox pays for.
If this woman runs she will lose. If Republicans nominate her, they are more foolish than the imbeciles presently serving in Congress. When she announces her candidacy (if she does) every Democrat in the country should thank God because with that single act she will ensure the re-election of Obama. She isn’t just duplicitous (holding on to her Fox moneybag while teasing her sycophants with a potential run), she’s also ignorant (if she imagines for half a second she can win).
It was she who lost McCain the election. She will lose any race she runs for Republicans. She is the kiss of death, the black widow, the ‘family values’ momma with a grandson out of wedlock. She is contradiction itself.
