The other day I lamented the tragic fact that in Zurich Catholics now outnumber the Reformed. What does it mean? Stuff like this!
The Swiss city of Zurich is to open drive-in sex boxes in an attempt to rid the town of street prostitution. Zurich council has approved a plan to build the boxes, which will, it hopes, provide a discreet location for prostitutes and their clients to conduct business when they open in August next year. Located in an industrial area of the city, the row of garage-like boxes will have roofs and walls for privacy, and easy access for cars. The council estimates that around 30 prostitutes will meet clients at the site of the boxes, and use the drive-in slots on a first-come-first-served basis.
[Sic!!!!!][Yes, they actually wrote … use the drive-in slots on a first-come-first-served basis].
Catholics have a long history of frequenting prostitutes (from village clergy through Archbishops) so its no surprise that now that Zurich has a larger Catholic population it would enact nonsense like this. Catholics… for shame!
Ontario’s top court has legalized brothels, saying Canadian prostitution laws unfairly discriminate against prostitutes and their ability to work in safe environments. A panel of five judges wrote that the law banning common bawdy houses “is grossly disproportionate” if all it aims to do is keep public order in a neighborhood and maintain public health standards. “The record is clear that the safest way to sell sex is for a prostitute to work indoors, in a location under her control,” the judges wrote in a much anticipated ruling. “The impact on those put at risk by the legislation is extreme,” the judges added.
However, the court stopped short of allowing prostitutes to openly solicit customers on the streets. The court ruled that prohibiting solicitation remains a “a reasonable limit on the right to freedom of expression.”
That last part is amusing. They can ply their trade, they just can’t ply the streets to do it. No worries, ladies of the scarlet letter, the ‘customers’ will find you…
Total depravity always finds a way to justify its behavior.
So if a student wants to earn tuition money by becoming a ‘sugar baby‘ she’s still prostituting herself. The purpose to which the money is put makes not one shred of difference. Even if her cause was the noble feeding of the hungry.
Just one semester shy of her bachelor’s degree, Christine left school. But so far waiting tables wasn’t allowing her to save up and finish her degree. So Morris was trying something different. She was having dinner with a man she met on a website called SeekingArrangement.com. It is one of several “sugar daddy” sites, where men can hook up with potential “sugar babies,” younger women who want to be supported financially in exchange for their companionship. And she’s not alone. The site says its fastest-growing population of sugar babies is college students. Some speculate it’s a direct result of skyrocketing tuition costs and student debt.
What’s it all mean? It means that girls (and guys I suppose) are willing to demean themselves for money. The love of money is the root of all evil. And the mother of all indecency.
Thanks to IVP Academic I’ve got a copy of this to review. It is a tragic fact of these so called ‘post enlightenment’ times that human slavery in the form of sex trafficking is a reality. This book is the
… true story of an undercover investigator’s experiences infiltrating the multi-billion dollar global sex industry. It is a story of triumph for the children and young teens released from a life of slavery and the rescuer who freed many hundreds of victims leading to the prosecution of dozens of perpetrators. And it is a story of haunting despair for those left behind in corrupt systems of law enforcement. It is the personal story of Daniel Walker, one man who followed a path of costly discipleship, agonizing failure and unlikely redemption. And it is a challenge to God’s people to join in the battle that all might be freed.
Here’s my review:

Used by those earning their living off the backs of working parents to do remarkably depraved things.
Former University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia was arrested and jailed Thursday in connection with a multistate, online prostitution ring that authorities say was run by a physics professor from New Jersey. Garcia was booked on a $35,000 cash or surety bond for investigation of promoting prostitution, tampering with evidence and conspiracy, Metropolitan Detention Center records show. Detectives served search warrants Thursday at Garcia’s home and at his university office. He is now a professor at the school…. Albuquerque police Lt. William Roseman said Flory ran a website for about three years and had about 1,400 members – about 200 prostitutes and about 1,200 johns. Flory faces 40 charges of promoting prostitution.
Depravity in the highest echelons of academia. Unsurprising.
Maybe Canada can replace Thailand as the go-to destination for the totally depraved. It’s on track to.
An Ontario court has struck down key provisions in Canada’s prostitution laws in a case that could set a precedent for the country. Prostitution itself is not illegal in Canada, but the court struck down three provisions that criminalized most aspects of it. Communicating for the purposes of prostitution, pimping and operating a brothel were decriminalized under the court’s ruling. Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel ruled Tuesday that the dangers prostitutes face far outweigh any harm which may be faced by the public. Himel said the laws set up to protect prostitutes actually harm them.
Nice, huh… Well this fills me with a measure of relief since it shows that American Judges aren’t the only ones devoid of sense.
