Oh Gross: More ‘Boozing it Up Makes You Do Stupid Things’ – The GOP Congressman Edition

English: Official portrait of US congressman K...

At least one GOP congressman who couldn’t walk on water decided to go skinny dipping in the Sea of Galilee instead. A group of Republican congressmen, aides and family members boozed it up and cooled off in the lake—one of them nude—during an official fact-finding trip to the Holy Land last year, according to witnesses. The FBI launched an investigation into the hijinks that involved a skinny-dipping Rep. Kevin Yoder of Kansas, reports Politico. “After dinner I followed some members of Congress in a spontaneous and very brief dive into the sea, and, regrettably, I jumped into the water without a swimsuit,” Yoder said in a statement. He apologized for any “embarrassment I have caused for my colleagues and constituents.”

Gross.

Bill Frist Finally Made the Headlines…

He must be so proud!  I know I am…

Today, the Center For Responsibility And Ethics In Washington released its second annual survey of the twenty most corrupt members of Congress, aptly named “Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch).”  CREW inventoried the “transgressions” of each member of Congress under the microscope of federal law and congressional rules.  Some highlights:  -The three most corrupt Senate members are the infamous Conrad Burns (R-MT), Bill Frist (R-TN), and Rick Santorum (R-PA).

There’s lots of information on the crew here.  Congrats, Bill….  You’ve done Tennessee proud…  Via Irene Hahn on FB.

Everyone Has Contempt, For Congress

The majority of Americans just aren’t smart enough to know that THEIR Congressman is part of the problem too.  Which is why the contemptible imps remain in office election after election.

Another day, another record low for Congress: Just 20% of respondents in the latest Gallup poll believe most members should be reelected. And a record high, too: The poll also finds that 76% don’t believe most representatives should be reelected. That’s the highest number since Gallup started asking the question 19 years ago, and six points higher than it was in August, the Los Angeles Times reports. “If voters’ current sentiments toward Congress prevail through next November’s election, it is possible that control of the House would flip back to the Democrats,” writes the editor in chief of the poll. Of course, 53% of respondents say they’ll reelect their own representatives. “Most voters believe Washington is broken because other people’s congressman broke it,” notes an analyst.

Smarten up America!  You can’t honestly be THAT dumb.  If you are, and if you vote for anyone in office, you deserve the disaster you’re going to get.  In spades.
