Young simply wishes to be wealthy and well known. That’s why he invited Glenn Beck to speak to his cult.
A popular megachurch minister in Texas has come under fire for inviting radio host and author Glenn Beck to speak at his church as part of an Independence Day celebration.
Ed Young of the multi-site Fellowship Church invited Beck, an outspoken Mormon, to speak during all of his Sunday services today as part of Young’s Freedom Experience event. Beck’s presentations were advertised on the church website as “a message of hope and history as we look to honor those who have provided us with our freedom.”
Young and his cult aren’t even pretending to be a Christian Congregation anymore.
Andy Boyd, a spokesman for Fellowship Church, said that Beck was invited since he is a known American historian, and also because the he has “shown his love for God in many ways.”
Bahahahahahahahahaha! Historian!!!! HA. David Barton is as much a ‘historian’ as Beck. But aside from that, worship isn’t about honoring a country, it’s about honoring God. And Young’s cult allows it.
Even performing a rap tune in a new video.
This is the face of modern mega-churchianity where the church has become a paltry shadow of its former self and a number of self promoting publicity whores will do anything whatsoever so long as they get the public to gawk at them. (And it’s very fitting that the heretic TD Jakes is also seen here).
[Via Brian le Port, to whom all hate mail should be directed. Or better yet, to Ed Young and his sad and tragic ‘church’ which endures such reprehensible pandering to the world].
Someone in Ed’s inner circle needs to remind him that ‘pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall’. He’s absolutely mad to say of Reformed pastors in general and of a particular Reformed Pastor and his church
Are they all bad? No they just don’t reach anybody. Last year at Fellowship Church we baptized 2,632 people. One of the fair-haired boys of this movement, I will not call his name, they baptized 26 people last year. (he then drops his hand-held mic on the floor and looks stunned). Oh, he’s deep. What are you smoking? Are you kidding me? I cannot put my head on the pillow at night knowing we baptized 26 people.
Arrogance… prepare to meet thy God. Noah preached a very long time without a single convert, and the Prophets were, to a man, failures (since they weren’t really able to get Israel to genuinely repent). So, Ed, smoke that as you yourself are smoking.
I agree with Michael, who opines Ed Young’s theological ignorance is appalling! His wilful obstinacy is even more worrying and yet he continues to masquerade as a pastor.
His members also continue to masquerade as Christians, for no Christian could endure the rubbish which Young regularly spews without utterly refuting it.
God’s justice in play?
Ed Young, founding pastor of Texas-based Fellowship Church, suffered a minor eye injury from exposure to the sun during the 24-hour bed-in with his wife, Lisa, on the church’s roof to discuss truths about sex before a live Internet audience.
‘Founding pastor’? Figures, I’m pretty sure that the foundation of the Church is Christ. That Eddie portrays himself as the founding pastor is fitting since it is – in fact – ‘his’ ‘church’. And his little publicity stunt ending because the sun bothered his eye? Also fitting, and parabolic really. Since he prefers the darkness to the light it’s only to be expected that any light at all prove blinding.
His is a case proving that ‘the blind lead the blind’.
Hence, the behavior of two 10 year olds in Houston isn’t even remotely shocking. What is shocking is that our society doesn’t see the connection between sex on display everywhere (even on the roof of a Church in Houston, thanks Ed Young, you feckless heretic) and kids acting out sexual behaviors (like the animals they’ve been taught they are).
Houston police say two 10-year-old boys have been charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old boy on a school bus. The boys were arrested last week after authorities reviewed a security videotape from the bus. … Houston school district spokesman Jason Spencer says officials were first made aware of the alleged assault when the district’s transportation department was asked by a parent on Aug. 30 to review conditions on a bus that transports special needs students to an elementary school. If convicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, they could face a sentence of up to 40 years.
Perhaps Lady Gaga and all the other purveyors of sexualism befouling society should be chained up in prison with them. At any rate this is just more evidence that the Imago Dei is truly effaced in unredeemed humanity. Like it or not, that’s just the way it is.
And they get the beating they deserve.
Neither Driscoll nor Young should 1) be allowed to sell books about the Bible or Theology or the Christian life. Nor should they 2) be allowed to pastor so much as a 1 man church. They both illustrate exactly what’s wrong with mega-church pseudo-theology and its quest not for truth or faith but fame and wealth and ‘prestige’.
The both of them are heretics of the first order because they are leading people with a lie. And Revelation 21:8 nicely describes the ultimate fate of liars:
There’s just simply nothing worse than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. In Driscoll and Young we have two.
