The following statement was provided to members of the EES during the Society’s AGM on 16th November 2019:
Investigation of the Society’s collection of papyri from Oxyrhynchus, which is estimated to hold some half a million fragments, has to date identified around 120 pieces which appear to be missing, almost all from a limited number of folders; it is possible that a few more cases may emerge. So far 13 of the missing pieces have been located in the Museum of the Bible in Washington and another 6 in the collection of Mr Andrew Stimer in California, and both collections are returning these texts to the EES. The EES is working with the University of Oxford and the police to establish how the papyri located in these and any other collections came to be removed and sold. While the police investigation is in progress, the EES cannot comment further on these matters, but will report on developments as and when it is possible.
Meanwhile the editorial team is working as usual to prepare new volumes of The Oxyrhynchus Papyri for the Graeco-Roman Memoirs of the EES. Because the investigation has delayed editorial work, we regret that the forthcoming volume LXXXV, due in 2018/19, is now expected in early 2020. The EES is also working with Oxford University to enhance the current accommodation of the collection and to determine how best to ensure its care and publication into the next generation.

And sometimes you can’t tell who they are… But Jesus knew they were there and warned us about them-
Mt 13:24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”
No one should be surprised to see fake Christians exposed for the weeds they are. It is inevitable. But no one should blame the authentic for the frauds either. They aren’t the product of the Church, they are the product of the Enemy.
This solution should make literally EVERYONE happy. And its simplicity is its elegance:
1- You may own as many guns as you wish. Handguns, rifles, semi-automatics.
2- Bullets will be regulated.
3- No one will be allowed to purchase bullets.
4- The only projectiles which may be purchased for discharge from a weapon are tranquilizer darts.
5- Darts can be fitted to any and all guns.
6- You can easily protect yourself and your family by shooting the intruder(s) with tranquilizer darts.
7- You can hunt with tranquilizer darts and then to finish off the prey, you can slit its throat with a knife.
8- Police will be armed with only tranquilizer darts.
9- Anyone found to be in possession of bullets will have their property seized and sold (including any and all vehicles), their weapons confiscated, and their right to carry a weapon suspended for life.
The Second Amendment says that you have the right to bear arms, but it doesn’t say you have the right to have bullets.
Problem. Solved. Get to it, politicians.
