Why Are People So Fearful that they Feel Compelled to Wall Themselves in and Arm Themselves to the Teeth?

The wicked flees when no one is pursuing, the upright is bold as a lion. (Prov. 28:1 NJB)

Do These People Have Zero Ethics?

When you get something that doesn’t belong to you by fraud, you are a cheat.  Have these people no understanding of that?  They are using those services under the guise of another, thereby committing fraud.  Do they not care?

It’s really a mark of our time that so few see any problem with being unethical.

A couple of years ago, Aleta Dignard-Fung got dumped by her boyfriend. “It was a pretty bad breakup,” says the 20-year-old graphic design student, who lives in Las Vegas. Only later did she remember that he still had the password to her streaming music account.

“Part of getting over someone is being able to listen to your jams in the shower and maybe cry or something like that,” says Dignard-Fung, who at the time was into Justin Bieber. “I’d just blast my music in the shower, and then it’d change and it’d start playing Bulgarian folk music because he’s Bulgarian.”

She jumped in and out of the shower, changing the music back as they continued battling for control, pushing each other off the shared account. “It was just kind of like the Spotify wars, and we’d just spendlike 10 minutes trying to override each other’s songs,” Dignard-Fung says.

These people are the worst.

Well Who Knew….

We’re so fortunate to live in a time in the history of the Church when we have learned souls willing to tell us what none of us have ever known.  Thank you Jesus…

The Problem of Pain

When did your pain become the world’s agenda?

If He Only Had a Bible, Poor Sot

Bless it… If only there weren’t pesky scripture to get in the way…

You must go and tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you to Galilee; that is where you will see him, just as he told you.”   And the women came out and ran away from the tomb because they were frightened out of their wits; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. Investigators For Diocese Say Catholic Students Did Not Initiate Confrontation

A private detective agency hired by the diocese that oversees Kentucky’s Covington Catholic High School says there’s no evidence that the school’s students instigated a conflict with a Native American man near the steps of the Lincoln Memorial last month.

In other news, the investigators also said that there has never been anything amiss in the behavior of Catholic priests anywhere in the world…

When an Emergency Isn’t An Emergency

If an emergency is no emergency for two years and suddenly it’s an emergency. It’s not an emergency.  Any questions?

Megachurches and their Anti-Christian Ecclesiology

For centuries church growth in America followed the following pattern:

  1. Churches were planted in new, as yet ‘un-churched’ areas of town or area by other congregations.
  2. These churches ministered to local residents and grew according to the persons and resources available.
  3. When these churches grew ‘large’ they would ask active members seasoned in Evangelism to open new congregations in other ‘un-churched’ areas of town or the vicinity and they would be accompanied by a few others and their resources.

And then the cycle would repeat, over and over again as each church was planted, grew, served as a ‘mother church’ to new, independent congregations.

Now, however, the aim of the megachurch and its anti-Christian theology is to drain as many surrounding areas as possible of its people and resources, centralizing them rather than dispersing them.  Here is how they operate:

  1. Open a church.
  2. Grow by means of poaching as many members of other churches as possible by offering every imaginable entertainment.
  3. Absorb as many people and resources as possible so as to build ever larger churches with ever higher paid pastors.
  4. Pretend to do missions by opening new ‘campuses’ of the main congregation.  Campuses which are merely franchises of the original megachurch and pooling ever more resources into the original campus.

What drives megachurches is one thing: greed.  Greed for human and material resources.  Greed for size.  Greed for wealth.  Greed for status.  Greed for power.

This is why pastors of megachurches are immoral and perverse.  Their quest is for wealth and power, not ministry.  It is also why megachurch pastors affix themselves to politicians.  As in such moves they imagine that they are acquiring more power, prestige, and wealth.

Megachurches are anti-Christian.

Did You Know That Towards the End of His Life, Luther Disliked Wittenberg, Very Much…

lutherAnd that Luther was so angry at the people of Wittenberg that, in 1545 while away on business, he determined never to return to the place?

He told Katie that she should make all the arrangements and join him in Zeitz.  She could, if she liked, ask the town pastor, John Bugenhagen, to say farewell for him and inform Master Philip Melanchthon as well.  But he would not come back.  “My heart has become cold, so that I do not like to be there any longer”.*

He had grown disheartened both because of the stinginess of the town and the immorality of its residents.  But what may have pushed him over the edge was that…

One of Luther’s own maids, who had worked her way into their household with a phony story, was now pregnant and abandoned by her lover.  He [Luther] called the city Sodom after the biblical city that so displeased God.*

Who doesn’t understand that sentiment?

It seemed increasingly true that his long work, especially his preaching, had been in vain in the very place where he had labored the longest and the hardest.*

His friends were able to talk him out of abandoning the city.  He would, however, be dead within a year. So he was able to leave anyway. Much to his relief, no doubt.

Quote of the Day

And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. (Lev. 18:21)

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, “or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. “For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. (Deut. 18:10-12)

And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.’  “Now therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say,`It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence’. (Jer. 32:35-36)

“Moreover you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to Me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your acts of harlotry a small matter,  “that you have slain My children and offered them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire?  (Ezek. 16:20-21)

And finally

“For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I will not be inquired of by you. (Ezek. 20:31)

Real Repentance is Much More than Saying ‘I’m Sorry’

John Calvin remarked, during his lectures on Hosea 2-

But we must observe, that when men really repent, they do so through the special influence of the Spirit; for they would otherwise perpetually remain in that perverseness of which we have spoken. Were God for a hundred years continually to chastise perverse men, they would not yet change their disposition; and true is that common saying, “The wicked are sooner broken than reformed.” But when men, after many admonitions, begin to be wise, this change comes through the Spirit of God.

We may also learn from this passage what true repentance is; that is, when he who has sinned not only confesses himself to be guilty, and owns himself worthy of punishment, but is also displeased with himself, and then with sincere desire turns to God. Many, we see, are ready enough, and disposed, to confess their sins, and yet go on in the same course. But the Prophet shows here that true repentance is something very different, I will go and return, he says. Repentance then consists (as they say) in the act itself; that is, repentance produces a reforming change in man, so that he reconciles himself to God, whom he had forsaken.

‘I’m sorry’ is meaningless unless accompanied by a reforming of life.  That is, by actions!

Praying With Peter Martyr Vermigli

vermigliWe flee to you daily, Almighty God, with our prayers, and we lay our vows before you in the morning–not ignorant that you hate our iniquity and exceedingly detest our sins.

We do not deny that we are held fast by them (for we perceive that they weigh us down beyond measure); nevertheless, relying on the abundance of your most generous goodness, we come to you.

We beseech you to be willing to forgive us in whatever sins we have committed against you, and to lead us henceforth in your righteousness and innocence, in order that the adversaries of our salvation–in whom there is nothing healthful, but all is full of vice–may not prevail against us. May their plans be made vain, [and] may their violence and strivings be brought to ruin, so that we, trusting in you, may enjoy steadfast gladness, while you protect, nourish, and surround us with your kindness as with a shield, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.*
