What despicable, totally depraved, selfish behavior. This is what America has become… and that isn’t good.

Completely incorrect interpretation of the events. He had already obtained a ball for that kid in the first inning. This ball was passed along from his wife to the next kid over. Details at, e.g., Chicago Tribune.

The only thing despicable is condemning this guy based on ten seconds of video.

false. the ballplayer tossed the ball to the kid. doesn’t matter if he has already gotten 500 balls, he was tossed that one. it rolled under his seat and guy behind him picked it up, and gave it to whoever she was. that’s the act of a deplorable.

Via Trib website–“What they didn’t see is that our son already had a foul ball and what they didn’t know is that our son had already decided that if he got another ball that he would toss it to the little boy behind him,” one of the boy’s parents, reluctant to identify the family more specifically than the surname Taylor, said through the ballclub.

then they should have let the boy do it instead of the guy grabbing it. the kid easily could have gotten it from under his seat and been allowed to do his own act of kindness.
