Nihil salvum esse potest, donec rabies. – John Calvin

What Are the Worst English Translations of the Bible?

  1. The Message – Eugene Peterson
  2. The Living Bible- Kenneth Taylor
  3. The Kingdom New Testament – NT Wright
  4. The New Testament – David Bentley Hart

All are absolute Dreck, and absolutely useless for either devotional reading or study of any kind.  You’re better off not reading the text at all if you’re reduced to the dank cave of moldy grossness you’ll find yourself in when you dive into the theological cesspool that those volumes are.

  1. I completely agree, but did you perhaps mean “The New Living Translation” instead of “The Living Bible”? (I like to call it the “New *Lying* Translation”.) “The Living Bible,” I think, only claims to be a paraphrase, and that is *why* they produced “The New Living Translation.”

    • tlb is a paraphrase but then so is the message. paraphrases are always worthless as they always misrepresent
