Most of those who call themselves Christians probably shouldn’t.
Texas Congressman Joe Barton released a statement Wednesday apologizing for a graphic nude photo of him that circulated on social media earlier this week. He announced his re-election bid earlier this month.
“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women,” he said. “Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”
Barton, who announced his re-election bid earlier this month, is navigating in a political environment charged with emerging stories of sexual misbehavior in politics, in business, and in the media. The photo, which appeared on an anonymous Twitter account, set off speculation within Texas GOP circles about his political future.
So, he’s divorced; having extramarital adulterous sexual relations; and sending photos of his naked gross old self to someone. So much for ‘family values’. But of course no one in the @GOP has had any morals for decades.
And the people who excoriated Bill Clinton and thought he should be impeached for an Oval office wing-to-do will support this guy with their votes and their ‘prayers’ and their ‘understanding’ (because no one is perfect and Jeeeeesus forgives)… Sickening hypocrites. Totally depraved politicians supported by totally depraved voters- that’s the new motto of the @GOP.
But if you don’t want to be branded a ‘pedophile congregation’ call as Pastor someone with an education who knows enough about Scripture and Theology not to support a pedophile. Problem solved.
The Highland Gardens Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama is complaining about an angry backlash after former Pastor Earl Wise reportedly said he would back Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore even if all of the allegations were true.
“He’s not the pastor here anymore. He hasn’t been here since June,” a church representative told The Christian Post in defense. The representative refused to give her name.
“I don’t know how much these women are getting paid, but I can only believe they’re getting a healthy sum,” the Boston Globe quoted Pastor Wise as suggesting. “How these gals came up with this, I don’t know. They must have had some sweet dreams somewhere down the line.”
The pastor seemed to suggest that 14-year-olds could be to blame for sexual assault inflicted upon them by an adult.
“There are some 14-year-olds, who, the way they look, could pass for 20,” the pastor explained.
Now, Pastor Wise’s former congregation are experiencing backlash after his controversial remarks.
“They are calling our church saying this is a pedophile congregation and stuff like that,” the Highland Gardens Baptist Church noted.
“You know, we’re not a pedophile church. We can’t help how he comments,” the representative argued. “He’s not our pastor anymore. He doesn’t represent us.
And ya know what? That’s fair. In the future, though, look for a Scripture Scholar/ Theologian to be your Pastor. That, by the way, is good advice for every Church.
Here’s an essay worth reading in this crazy Luther year.
Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam! Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders. He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground, fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil. But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs, and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city. There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce. He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength. Their numbers had fallen, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship; he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes. But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep. At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say. Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh’s faithful love (Ps. 107:31-43)
I love this. And I agree with all of them.
That’s how many kids die of gunshot wounds in America…
“91 percent of the children killed by guns around the world were American, where, according to the data, 19 children die from or are treated for gunshot wounds each day.”
And yet we do nothing…
