Against ‘Cultural Christianity’

As evangelicals, we ridiculed ‘cultural Christianity’ privately (conferences, seminary) while accepting it publicly (church membership). It grew our churches, our buildings, our influence…and we are paying the price.  We let ‘cultural Christians’ feel at home with us so it’s hard for outsiders to believe us now when we claim we aren’t with them. Obviously, we can point to exceptions but unfortunately not enough of them. – Chad Chambers
