Evaluating Professors: An Observation

If you really want to know how a Prof is doing have the Dean sit in on a random class.  Don’t ask students to evaluate Profs.  They don’t know enough about the subject to do it correctly and they tend to either offer negative evals because they are poor students or positive evals because they want brownie points.

Peer review has to be done by actual peers, not immature beginners if it’s to have any value at all.

Finally, asking students to review Profs turns them into consumers, not learners.  And that’s the worst thing that schools can do.
