It’s Not Just a Matter Of Hearing

with one comment

“Not everyone who says to Me,`Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Many will say to Me in that day,`Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them,`I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matt. 7:21-23).

The emergents and seekers hate that passage.  That’s why they ignore it.

  1. The emergents don’t realize that shortly after that Jesus promises that those who put his teachings into practice, similarly to how a builder builds a house on a foundation, will have invincible lives just like a house that can resist any storm or flood. Sadly, the very things the emergents want (my life my way for ever) is precisely what they miss out on when they don’t do what Jesus says. Paradoxically, you’ve got to turn away from your life as is to get your life as it is most desirable. But people don’t know that because people don’t read the Bible any more.
