Donald Trump sparked a new furor on Tuesday after he appeared to suggest Hillary Clinton could be assassinated by disgruntled gun owners. Mr Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, made an apparent joke about his Democratic rival being shot. A spokeswoman for the US Secret Service said it was “aware of Mr Trump’s comments”.The billionaire was making an unscripted speech in North Carolina about the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right of Americans to bear arms.
He said that right would be adversely affected by liberal judges appointed to the US Supreme Court if Mrs Clinton reaches the White House. Mr Trump then said: “Hillary wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment. If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. “Although the Second Amendment people maybe there is, I don’t know… “But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”
Trump has just incited his followers to assassinate Clinton.
