What am I to say here, Erasmus? You reek of nothing but Lucian, and you breathe out on me the vast drunken folly of Epicurus. If you consider this subject unnecessary for Christians, then please quit the field; you and I have nothing in common, for I consider it vital. — Martin Luther

“….we have become a world where people want what they want, and they want it now. Nations speak the same way, and we all recognise the dangers that come when nations, for terrible reasons, threaten violence and war simply to possess what they want to possess. Jesus shows us another way; or better: Jesus shows us the other way, the way of truth and life. True power, the power of God, is the power to welcome resurrection into this world and into our lives: to make Jesus’s kingship of this world, not by force, but by love and the presence of the Holy Spirit.” – Gareth Jones
The group End Times Prophecies has declared the world will end July 29 in a chain of events prompted because of an ongoing phenomenon known as a polar flip.
The good news: We can stop worrying about who will be the next president.
A 17-minute Armageddon News video, posted July 9 on YouTube and viewed more than 800,000 times, explains the end-of-the world theory as a modulated female voice reads through a variety of biblical quotes, illustrated with cheap special effects that couldn’t buy Michael Bay a cup of coffee.
“The polar flip will make the stars race across the sky, and the vacuum from the reeling of the Earth will pull the atmosphere along the ground, trying to catch up, creating what is known as a roll cloud,” the Armageddon News report said.
On July 30 the pseudo-theologians will offer some lame excuse concerning miscalculations. That prediction you can count on coming true.
It’s a crying shame that people who pretend to know the Bible don’t know it well enough to have read Mark 13.
(Mk. 13:32)
Are Republicans unaware of the fact that White is a notorious false teacher? Are they unfamiliar with the plain teaching of Scripture, that such persons should not so much as be invited into one’s house?
Dear Republicans, please read:
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. (2 Jn. 1:10-11)
By inviting a heretic into your ‘house’ you’ve invited evil in.
Because she’s from Pennsylvania (the West Virginia of the Northeast), evidently. And she looks pretty happy with herself…
A mother is facing charges after police said she was caught riding around town with her children, ages 3 and 5, in the trunk of a red Corvette.
Jessica M. Reger, 29, of Hanover, Pennsylvania is charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment, according to charging papers filed by borough police. Police said they received a call from someone who saw the children in the trunk on the night of July 10. The caller gave the license plate number and said the Corvette was traveling on West Middle Street.
An officer caught up with the Corvette and found the children in the trunk. Reger was placed in the York County Prison on $2,500 bail.

Pastor Gary Olsen of Mars Hill Baptist seemed to be bringing the heat Sunday morning, but slipped up and mistakenly revealed he was actually lip-syncing over a prerecorded message by Matt Chandler, according to eyewitnesses.
Sources say Olsen started out strong, perfectly syncing the movement of his lips up to Chandler’s trademark, thoughtful, energetic style, asking the congregation several times if they were “tracking” with him. But he ran into trouble about halfway through, when he coughed and bent down to get a glass of water and the sermon kept right on playing from the church’s sound system.
While many pastors have turned to pre-packaged or ghost-written sermons so they can concentrate on more important pastoral duties, Olsen’s congregation was reportedly in agreement that this incident took things just a little too far.
Mutatis mutandis, the use of books of sermon outlines are exactly the same thing as lip-syncing. Exactly the same. Pastors who can’t do their own work should quit and make hummus.
The thing that’s so absurd about all of the anti Clinton and anti Trump memes is that people actually think their guy does no wrong and the other guy does no right. On the face of it, and in reality, such a viewpoint is- let’s just say it- stupid. No politician in any elected office from the small to the great gives a rampaging rat’s rip about average folk and you’re a fool if you think they do. They ALL serve only corporate interests. That’s the cold hard truth. No matter who you vote for, your vote serves wealth not average people. Period.
People have been raised to think your church is a pizza party palace and clothing closet. Don’t be surprised when those same people just come looking for pokemon but have no interest in the gospel. You’ve trained them to think the church exists for everything but the worship of God.
If you feel that “God has let you down” I have a question for you – why do you think God owes you something in the first place? Anything at all that God does for you is pure gift. Anything he doesn’t do for you is something you aren’t owed anyway so why do you imagine yourself to ‘deserve’ it? #GodIsntYourToady.
Overnight Turkish president Erdogan’s counter-coup witch hunt continued, when thousands of police officers were suspended on Monday, widening a systemic purge of Erdogan’s enemies first in the armed forces and then judiciary after a failed military coup, now focusing on the interior police force, and raising concern among European allies that it was abandoning the rule of law. Reuters reports that at least 8,000 police officers have been removed from their posts on suspicion of links to Friday’s coup bid by a faction in the army.
Thirty regional governors and more than 50 high-ranking civil servants have also been dismissed, CNN Turk said. Thousands of members of the armed forces, from foot soldiers to commanders, were rounded up on Sunday, some shown in photographs stripped to their underpants and handcuffed on the floors of police buses and a sports hall. Several thousand prosecutors and judges have also been removed.
At the same time speculation that the terribly planned “coup” was anything but came from the European Commission itself. As Reuters adds, the swift rounding up of judges and others after a failed coup in Turkey indicated the government had prepared a list beforehand, according to EU commissioner dealing with Turkey’s membership bid, Johannes Hahn, said on Monday.
“It looks at least as if something has been prepared. The lists are available, which indicates it was prepared and to be used at a certain stage,” Hahn said. “I’m very concerned. It is exactly what we feared.”
It is also exactly what Erdogan has expected and hoped for. And with broad western support for Erdogan over the weekend, his mission to concentrate all Turkish power in his own hands is now assured.
So well played, tyrant. Well played. We managed the same thing with the ‘Patriot Act’ but a coup to ‘protect us from terrorists’ would have done as well…

The New Black Panther Party, a “black power” movement, will carry firearms for self-defense during demonstrations in Cleveland ahead of next week’s Republican convention if allowed under Ohio law, the group’s chairman said.
The plan by the group could add to security headaches for the Ohio city after last week’s killing of five police officers in Dallas by a U.S. army veteran who had been drawn to black separatist ideology, including on Facebook, before hatching his plan to target white police officers.
Several other groups, including some supporters of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, have said they will carry weapons in Cleveland, leading to concerns about rival groups being armed in close proximity.
“If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our second amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us,” Hashim Nzinga, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, told Reuters in an interview.
“If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms.”
What could go wrong?
