Cynthia Bennett Brown’s Book on Brunner is Better than McGrath’s
When I read Alistair McGrath’s book on Brunner I was pretty sure it was the best recent work on the great Swiss theologian available in English. I was mistaken. Brown’s book is better. It better captures the spirit and intent of Brunner. It more accurately portrays his theology. It invites readers to a deeper appreciation without being mildly condescending.
I’m reviewing it for a journal so my review will appear there and not here. Suffice it to say in this venue, this book is an extraordinary introduction to Brunner and every Barthian on the planet (and Brunnerian) should read it.
