Symbolism as Exclusion

The confederate flag is racist and exclusionary. Displaying it at the White House would be inflammatory and inappropriate because it would alienate a large segment of the population.
So tell me- how is this not the same thing?

I know – that’s completely intolerant of people who want to exercise the right to exclude people. It’s like the Nazis and stuff.

the WH has spent days talking about the confederate flag as divisive. and then it turns around and uses a symbol that is itself divisive. that’s stupid.

has nothing to do with the point. the point is- the confederate flag is divisive. the rainbow flag is divisive. if the white house wouldn’t divide by flying the first, it shouldn’t divide by exhibiting the second.
