In Which An Actual Archaeologist Responds to Simcha’s ‘Jesus Went to Spain’ Nonsense

“…the evidence is overwhelming…” Seriously? For the regular performers in Simcha’s “Amazing Jesus Circus” it is clear that any publicity is good no matter how shameful, repugnant, or wrong. Even the most scandalous attention is a tasty meal that serves only to fatten their pocketbooks. — Nicolae Roddy

  1. The wake up call came with the James ossuary, but not all our colleagues listened. A well known journalist covering the profession mentioned to me this week, how sleazy it has become as of late. Sleazy to the point that one of our colleagues here is trying to transfer out of archaeology to another dept, due to the shame.
What makes it worse is that one of the American universities UNC on the east coast has an academic overseer for much of this, protecting the ‘integrity’ of the university. Complaints to the university fall on a deaf ear, if it isn’t UNC then its Huntington. It could and should have been stopped three decades ago, but colleagues, more concerned about their position in the academic ‘food chain’ instead of the profession itself, are to blame.
