Americans Need to Wise Up

Many lament the low wages paid workers at places like Wal Mart and yet those same people want to pay low prices for things they themselves buy.  Here’s a fact, America:

You can’t have high wages when you only want to pay low prices.  Or, to say it a bit differently, Americans want high wages but inexpensive products.

Sorry, America, you can’t have it both ways.  Either fork over more of your money to buy more expensive products from factories paying higher wages or shut up about the plight of the poor.  You’re the ones keeping them poor!!!!!!

  1. Nicholas says:

Walmart wages are not low. Low wages are what they pay the people in Indonesia who make the clothing sold at Walmart.

    • Jim says:

any wage that forces workers to work between 60 and 75 hours a week just to make rent and necessities is low.

In our defense, there are some of us who do know this and act accordingly. Sadly, we’re a vocal minority. But there are many people who do complain about the situation while participating in it.

There are also people who buy into Wal-Mart’s propaganda and believe that the US relies on Wal-Mart for employment and goods. If that’s true, then the US is unsustainable.

To Nicholas: We pretend that it’s not slavery as long as the workers live somewhere else and we can’t see them.
