What Has Cassidy Goodson Done That Thousands Upon Thousands of Doctors Haven’t?

America’s legal murder for convenience policy (you call it abortion, I call it murder for convenience) is carried out every day- so why are we so horrified when a 14 year old murderess slaughters an infant still attached by the umbilical cord to her?  Look at her face.  She doesn’t care what she’s done.

A 14-year is accused of choking her newborn to death while the baby was still attached to her by the umbilical cord.  Cassidy Goodson of Lakeland, Fla. is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse, according to theLedger.  Goodson gave birth to a boy in the bathroom of her home on Sept. 19, ABC News reports.  Police say the high school freshman ultimately used scissors to pry the baby out of her body and into the toilet. Lifting the baby out of the toilet, Goodson “placed her hands on the infant’s neck and squeezed until he wasn’t moving or breathing any longer,” according to a statement released by Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.

Horrific isn’t it?  But the murder of children happens every day and the hypocrites who are horrified by this disgusting act are silent and compliant when tens of thousands of others who do the same thing (under the different name of ‘abortion’ – but it’s still murder because the end result is exactly the same).  That’s hypocrisy at it’s finest.

That’s right. The difference between what Cassidy Goodman did and what abortion doctors do is purely a matter of which side of a woman’s vulva the baby happens to be on when you kill it. That’s a technical difference, not a moral one. However, whereas it is correct to recognize that morally the two sorts of baby killing actually are the same sort and belong in the same moral (and, ideally, legal) category, you are wrong about which category they both ought to be lumped together in. The deciding factor, for moral purposes, is whether the thing being killed is a person or not. And an infant isn’t a person a minute after it is born, no more than it was a minute before it was born. In order to be a person, a thing must, as a minimum, understand itself to be a separate living thing and value its separate existence. It does not matter whether YOU appreciate those things. It only matters whether the thing, itself, does. And a newborn baby does not. It has reflexes, but it has not the crucial understanding I mentioned. Now, it won’t be long before a baby acquires that understanding and places a value upon its own life. After a few months of separate existence, a baby knows itself to be other than its mother, knows that it wants to eat and therefore to live. But at birth that knowledge is lacking because the baby had, up until then, been inside its mother and had been fed automatically by his mother’s blood. Getting food though its mouth, and tasting it therewith, and gaining the satisfaction of a quiet stomach, are all new experiences. The crime of Shakara Dickens, a 21-year-old black woman native to Memphis, Tennessee, earlier this year, was much worse than that of Cassidy Goodman. Dickens was of legal adult age; Goodman is herself a minor child. Dickens’ baby was almost a year old when Dickens smothered it with her hands; it was old enough to have gained the some of the knowledge of good and evil, an apprehension of life and its needs, an individual identity, a consciously self-centered point of view, and so on. When Dickens killed her baby, she definitely killed another person. When Goodman killed her newborn, she did not kill a person (except by the technicality of legal definition). Enter racial politics. Shakara Dickens is black. She was therefore not charged with capital murder, even though the was convicted after she told many lies to her jury in court. The charges against her were the lesser charges of child neglect and 2nd degree murder. She received a sentence of 19 years, and she will be eligible for parole by the time she is 35 years old. But 14-year-old Cassidy Goodman is a white girl. She has been charged with the most serious felony, capital murder, for which the punishment may be death if she is tried as an adult. Cassidy made the mistake of telling the truth to the police, of being honest to the law, of confessing all in the naive, Christian belief that honesty always makes the best policy. And because of that error, she might be put to death.

Your understanding of humanity as self aware just saw to the execution of millions of mentally challenged persons and is morally reprehensible and extremely unacceptable.

The comment by Mr. Sims is slated under pure ignorance…this young lady being charged with 1st degree murder has nothing to do with her race at all…get real! The way she went about it is what worked in this instance

it is indeed ignorant to assert that life is only life if it’s self aware (and to what degree that?)

Jim, that is NOT what I said, and I wish that those who would debate me would stop falsifying my statements. This is what I said, “The deciding factor, for moral purposes, is whether the thing being killed is a person or not.”

Not whether it is alive or not, Jim. Any beast or bacterium is alive. What makes a life special enough to preserve and protect, at cost if need be, is whether it is a person or not. Beasts are not persons, though they are alive.

and self awareness isn’t the most important criteria for personhood. in fact, you’ll never find a shred of scripture to support your view.
