Was it an Earthquake, or Something Else?

Robert Eisenman made these remarks in connection with one of the Qumran ‘immersion pools’  on Facebook-

Ritual immersion pool stairs showing crack, which archaeologist tended to interpret as an earthquake having taken place at and ‘destroyed’ Qumran, but our radar groundscans showed it to be simply a ‘local displacement of the terrain’ – for that matter, such an ‘earthquake’ might just as well have occurred at a later time as the earlier one they simplistically – like the lemmings many are – chose (and ‘wished’) to interpret it as…

I take his point.  Just because others have seen something in a particular way doesn’t mean we are released from our duty to think for ourselves.
