Poor Folk Give More Than Wealthy Folk to Charities

Poor Southerners outgive wealthy Northerners and West Coast-ers and ‘religious’ States outgive atheist states.  So tell us, angry atheists, ‘how philanthropic’ you lot are.

No part of that surprises me.

If contributions to local churches and missionary activity count as charities (which they do), then these results as a percentage of salary are not surprising.

(Note that Utah is tithing, which is made easier when one’s ‘charitable contribution’ is automatically deducted directly from one’s paycheck 😉

they should be considered charitable contributions. here’s why- they do the work of charity. for instance- during katrina it wasn’t the red cross that provided food for the tens of thousands. it was baptist disaster relief and methodist relief services and a number of other of christian groups which provided and prepared the food. this food the red cross mere DISTRIBUTED. the red cross – however- likes people to think it provides but it merely distributes. it wasn’t the american atheist society that provided food for hurricane victims.
