The Ugly, Ugly Truth About America Is Exposed In The Aurora Shooting

What is it?  It’s this:

The truth [about this tragedy] is made worse by the reality that no one—really no one—anywhere on the political spectrum has the courage to speak out about the madness of unleashed guns and what they do to American life. That includes the President, whose consoling message managed to avoid the issue of why these killings take place. Of course, we don’t know, and perhaps never will, what exactly “made him” do what he did; but we know how he did it. Those who fight for the right of every madman and every criminal to have as many people-killing weapons as they want share moral responsibility for what happened last night—as they will when it happens again. And it will happen again.

As I’ve said for years.  And still our cowardly politicians are too spineless to stand up for what’s right and not what will fill their campaign coffers.  The ugly, ugly truth about America is that our leaders don’t deserve the title because when we need their leadership most, they lie fallow like piles of manure on a field of flies.

And a lot of the people who are okay with our gun culture call themselves pro-life, too. Without seeing the irony.

I’ve seen people saying that the best way to prevent this kind of thing is for everyone to carry a gun.

‘Cause in a culture that has a problem of people sending text messages while driving, what we need is more people walking around with 30-round Glocks, I guess.

  2. Are you, a Christian, actually going to say that it is guns that kill people? A tool is a tool is a tool. Chainsaws kill people too. Should we get rid of those too? You just lost a subscriber. What happened to understanding the responsibility of the individual? Why are we shocked by displays of men’s depravity? If you disarm law-abiding citizens, you are making them future victims. This is an irrational fear and disarming law-abiding people is indefensible.

fan of multiple murder are you? as a christian, actually defending the use of weapons? are you unfamiliar with jesus? he said, ‘those who live by the sword, die by the sword’. christians such as yourself, who defend the ownership of guns by any loon who wants them exalt the constitutions 2nd amendment above faith, scripture, and love. that, sir, is a sin.

What is wrong with your so-called “civilised society” that almost anybody, mentally ill or otherwise can purchase a gun quite legally? Shouldn’t gun control be a pro-life issue like affordable health care for all or is abortion the only pro-life topic that counts in the USA?

Nick, the “other weapons” argument is really tired and stupid. Yes, weapons other than guns can kill people. But not as quickly or as easily. That’s why our army doesn’t carry baseball bats. Don’t be asinine.

Patricia, in the US we consider that life ends at birth. Therefore, yes, “pro-life” means opposing abortion and nothing else. It implies no obligation to protecting that life after birth.
