Quote of the Day

“Für den Sieg des Bösen reicht es schon, wenn die Gutmenschen ihr Bestes tun.” (Charles Bukowski)

So true indeed. Via Sebastian Moll

Why Have Mark Goodacre, Chris Tilling, and Joel Watts Been so Quiet Lately?

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

They’re at BronyCon

Dale Fjordbotten Joel Watts is a proud “My Little Pony” fan, with the shiny blue body suit and yellow lightning bolt, blue wings and blue tail to prove it.

Like many “Bronies” — boys and men who like the cartoon “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”— the 25-year-old college student turned out over the weekend for “BronyCon Summer 2012” at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, which drew 4,000 men, women, boys and girls, many in colorful wigs and costumes.

“I thought about what people would say. ‘It’s creepy. It’s weird. It’s a … show for little girls,'” said Mark Goodacre Fjordbotten, from Staten Island, N.Y. “It’s just a great show … the story line, the plot, the beautiful animation.”

Bronies say they’re a misunderstood lot who’ve gotten a bad rap from the media. They’re all about the show, friendship, love and tolerance, and they have no bad intentions, they say.

“I discovered that there’s nothing to be ashamed of being a Brony,” said 19-year-old Chris Tilling James Penna of Mastic in Long Island, N.Y. “People are into what they’re into.”

Outside the convention center, young men danced and sang along with songs from My Little Pony cartoon that blasted from loud speakers as a video screen on a large truck showed the show’s characters. One observer said it almost felt like a Grateful Dead concert.

No, you aren’t misunderstood… you’re weird.  And more than a little creepy.

Joyce Meyer is a Heretic: Here’s Why

Following is a list of quotes from Joyce Meyer, along with responses.

  1. Jesus stopped being the Son of God:  “He could have helped himself up until the point where he said I commend my spirit into your hands, at that point he couldn’t do nothing for himself anymore. He had become sin, he was no longer the Son of God. He was sin.”(http://storage.carm.org/joycemeyer/joyce-meyer-Jesus-became-sin-stopped-being-son-of-God.mp3)
    1. Response:  This is heresy.  Jesus did not ever stop becoming the son of God.  Essentially what she is saying is that Jesus stopped being divine, the eternal son, second person of the Trinity. This is an attack on the very nature of Christ and it is a dangerous false teaching.  Joyce Meyer needs to repent and retract this statement.  There is no place in Scripture that says Jesus stopped being the son of God.  She’s adding to the word of God and placing in the hearts and minds of listeners false doctrine.
  2. Jesus was born again:  “The minute that blood sacrifice was accepted Jesus was the first human being that was ever born again,” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neKsa_74w7k&feature=related)
    1. Response:  This is just plain wrong.  Being born again means to be saved from the wrath of God for a person’s sins (Eph. 2:1-3), to have a new birth (John 3:3), and to be regenerated (2 Cor. 5:17).  Mrs. Meyer is simply wrong biblically.  Why does she teach this?  It can only be because she has bought into many of the errors of the Positive Confession movement where it is sometimes said that Jesus lost his divine nature, went to hell, finished the atonement in hell, and was born again!  This is a serious error since it implies that Jesus needed to be changed…

And many, many more. If you’re a ‘fan’ of Meyer’s you need to know that she mixes just enough truth with her multitude of errors to sound biblical, but she isn’t. She’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

UEFA Fraud

Something to think about when you’re watching the game today.  You may be seeing something that isn’t happening today

From the television footage, it looked like a spontaneous display of emotion from a German fan as Italy scored their second, winning goal against Germany in Thursday’s match.

Yet the pictures of a woman crying shown immediately after Mario Balotelli’s goal had been filmed before the match even began, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on Saturday.

When Italy scored a second goal in the 36 minute of the game, millions of viewers across Germany were shown a picture of a German fan in the stadium who had apparently spontaneously been reduced to tears.

But as the fan herself told the paper, and UEFA later confirmed, she had really been overcome with emotion during the national anthem prior to kick-off.

This is the second time UEFA has been accused of having manipulated images transmitted to Germany during a live game in this tournament, and had already admitted slotting previously filmed pictures of German coach Joachim Löw into footage of the Germany vs Netherlands game on June 13th.

Greasy work there UEFA.
