Quote of the Day

Saw some Joyce Meyer books in the same section as Eastern mysticism books. How apropos. — Nick Norelli (on the twitter)

Wortschatz der Hebräischen Bibel

With thanks to the folk at TVZ for sending along a review copy of this useful volume-

My review is online here, and the author has been kind enough to send PDF’s of the pages I have mentioned in my review.  You can download the zip file containing them here.  They’re much nicer than my photos!  And I thank Dr. Arnet for them.

The Bibleworks 20th Anniversary Winners Have Been Announced

And they don’t include Joel or myself.  But that’s probably because our diddy’s were horrible.  Check out the winners and runners-up (and congrats to the contestants who managed to outwit, outlast, and out-maneuver the rest).

Un-Christian Christians and Un-Muslim Muslims

This is both absurd and disgusting and there’s guilt aplenty on both depraved sides.

Flaring tensions led to violence and an arrest in Michigan this weekend as members of Christian missionary groups turned up to protest at the largest public gathering of Arab-Americans in the U.S. Christian protesters traveled across the country to Dearborn, Mich., where they taunted attendees and even held a severed pig’s head for three days at the annual Arab International Festival. The protests turned violent Sunday, and by the end of the day as many as 10 people facing disorderly conduct or assault charges, according to ABC News Detroit affiliate WXYZ.

“You’re going to burn in hell,” a missionary reportedly yelled at a group of Arab-American boys, while other protesters held anti-Muslim signs that made bigoted remarks about Islam and its prophet Mohammed, including “Islam is a religion of blood and murder” and “Muhammad (Islam’s prophet) is a … liar, false prophet, murderer, child molesting pervert.”  Young festival attendees later threw soda cans at the protesters and yelled, “Allah-U-Akbar” [God is the greatest], the Detroit Free Press reported.  Violence eventually broke out between festival goers and protesters, prompting Dearborn police to arrest a protest they  claim incited the violence.  Some protesters say that they were attacked first.

First, Christians, authentic Christians anyway, don’t act like that.  And second, peace loving Muslims, real Muslims, don’t act like some of the Muslims there acted.  What’s wrong with you people?  Are you really that blind to your own traditions?  Are you really that ignorant of what your faith stands for?  Are are you just stupid?

He Strapped His 2 Year Old Daughter in the Car Seat and Tossed Her in the Creek

And he’s pure evil.

A man accused of tossing his 2-year-old daughter into a creek while she was still strapped in her car seatwas indicted Monday on a murder charge.  Arthur Morgan III of Eatontown has been in jail on $10 million bail since his arrest in San Diego in November. Tierra Morgan-Glover’s body was found partially submerged in a park creek on Nov. 22. Prosecutors say Morgan had asked the girl’s mother if he could take Tierra to see a movie about dancing penguins. When he didn’t return her after a few hours, the mother called police.  In addition to the murder charge, Morgan is charged with interference with custody and child endangerment.

An eye for an eye is looking pretty fair right now.  Perhaps if true justice is served in the likely event of his conviction he will himself be tied to a seat and tossed in the sea.  These perverse depraved ‘parents’ who use their kids as pawns in their damnable selfish power struggles all deserve the unmeasured wrath and rage of Heaven.

‘Raiders of the Lost Relics’

In the Chronicle of Higher Education, Matthew Kalman reports

On a hilltop overlooking the Elah Valley, about 15 miles southwest of Jerusalem, an ancient city is yielding archaeological finds that have reignited a debate about some of the Bible’s most colorful characters, including King David.

Qeiyafa, exaggerated claims, and the state of the field.  Give the piece a read.  Very nicely done.
