Just How Tragically Pathetic Are These 20-Somethings??

As 20-somethings struggle in a tough economy, their moms and dads are writing their resumes, tracking them on LinkedIn, and even going along for the job interview.

Wow. Just wow. How lazy and pathetic and unmotivated and coddled and pampered are these kids??

Worse-

Perhaps it was inevitable, given the track record of the American boomer parent. After coaching their kids through junior hockey, supervising their science projects and cowriting their college applications, a growing number of enthusiastic moms and dads are moving to the next challenge, taking on the job of job hunting. Of course, parents have always played the role of over-the-phone cheerleader before job interviews, and generations of kids have gotten their first job through one of Dad’s connections. But employers, job counselors and parents themselves say the help they’re offering these days can become a full-blown tactical enterprise, one that includes everything from filling out job applications and combing the want ads to picking up the phone and hounding recruiters who haven’t called back. And yes, some parents even show up at their kid’s job interview.

Good grief. I’ve never wanted to slap someone on the back of the head as much as I want to slap the parents of these selfish little 20’s kids for enabling them to be life-time wimps. They ought to just finish the job off and breast feed them till they die.

That Sheriff Babeu… He’s Some Kind of Pervert

He’s against illegal immigration but he doesn’t seem to have a problem with pedophilia

The Arizona sheriff and Congressional candidate recently caught in a scandal over his gay lover once ran a boarding school that was shut down over abuse allegations, KNXV-TV reports. Paul Babeu was headmaster of the DeSisto School in Stockbridge, Mass., from 1999 to 2001—a time when physical and sexual abuse ran rampant, say former students. Punishments included forcing a student to wear nothing but a sheet to class or sitting in a corner for days or even weeks.

One student with bi-polar disorder was so “cornered” until he urinated and defecated on himself and went to hospital with pneumonia—but was sent back to the corner when he returned to school. Other students were “strip searched” or forced into “sexual abuse” during group showers, according to state documents. Babeu’s own sister tells KNXV-TV that he bunked up with a 17-year-old male student, telling her, “I love him.” Babeu declined to give an interview but issued a non-denial denial, noting “he was never the target of any investigation or lawsuit.”

Bunking with a kid should have landed him in jail, not in the Sheriff’s Office

Karl Barth: The Protestant Pope?

English: German stamp, showing Karl Barth. Deu...

Oh this will endear the essayist to the Barthians!

Read the rest- it’s not very long.  With thanks to Girgio for pointing it out- who comments on the essay thusly-

Ironically… It’s Better to Strike with Words than Bullets

Martin Luther, commemorated on February 18 Eva...

As soon as I posted the previous I learned from the Post Reformation Digital Library of the Luther Insult Generator!   It’s loads of fun.  Here’s an example-

Let this generation of vipers prepare itself for unquenchable fire!

Go to the link and let Luther insult you or- better- use his words to insult others (it’s better than shooting them).

Here’s one of the best-

Perhaps you want me to die of unrelieved boredom while you keep on talking.

You know you’ve thought those very words while listening to a paper at SBL.  Admit it.

The Bullied Becomes the Bully

In Ohio a kid purportedly bullied has become himself the ultimate, armed bully.  As if the violence and mistreatment he has received (if he has) is properly redressed by escalated and excessive bullying by means of a gun!

It makes no sense at all for victims of bullying to become bullies.  If they hate being treated that way why on earth would they want to do worse to someone else?  That’s exceedingly selfish.

A student who witnessed a deadly Ohio school shooting says it appeared the gunman was targeting a group of students sitting at a cafeteria table.  Freshman Danny Komertz says he was just about to leave for his first-period health class Monday when he heard a loud popping sound and then saw the gunman open fire.  He says one student who authorities say was killed was trying to get under a table to protect himself and shield his face.  Komertz says the shooter was known as an outcast who had apparently been bullied.

Bad behavior is NEVER justification for worse behavior.  Never.

PETA: What a Load of Hypocrites!

PETA‘s controversial campaigns for animal rights dominate headlines—but behind the scenes, the picture is quite different, according to newly released documents. Last year, the organization killed more than 95% of the pets in its charge at its Norfolk, Va., headquarters, the Daily Caller reports. Documents released by the state’s agriculture department show that the group placed 24 animals in 2011—and killed 1,911.

Oh they care about animals all right, don’t they (the lying hypocrites).

“It appears PETA is more concerned with funding its media and advertising antics than finding suitable homes for these dogs and cats,” says the head of the Center for Consumer Freedom, which posted the documents online.

No kidding.  PETA- just a bunch of money grubbing publicity seeking vile deceivers.

Herod Didn’t Finish That Wall After All- Again

I’m not sure why the IMF is just coming up with this today.  It was reported three months ago (see the links below).  Evidently it’s tourist season so this is a tourism ploy.

The IMF reports

New archeological excavations show conclusively that the Roman client king’s massive construction project continued after his death.

So there’s something else ‘tradition’ holds which archaeology disproves.

Textbooks for archeologists –– and tour guides in Israel –– long held to the notion that King Herod, a Roman client king who lived from 74 BCE to 4 CE in the Holy Land, saw his colossal building project in and around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem through to the end.  Coins, pottery and oil lamps discovered in a Jewish ritual bath underneath the Western Wall recently, report archeologists from Israel, date the completion of the Western Wall surrounding the Second Temple to a later time, maybe even 50 CE. They are sure that the coins found under the wall were struck after Herod had already died. Archeologists Professor Ronny Reich of the University of Haifa and Eli Shukron of the Israel Antiquities Authority led the work.

Poor Herod.  He probably didn’t do much of anything at all.

The Absurd Claims being Made about that ‘1500 Year Old Gospel’

Now even Al Arabiya has chimed in on the silliness- claiming that the manuscript is stirring a controversy.    No, it isn’t.  Claims to the contrary notwithstanding, this manuscript isn’t ancient, isn’t a gospel, and it’s just nonsense to pimp it off as if it were revolutionary or astonishing.

The discovery of the gospel that predicts the coming of Prophet Mohammed has been stirring much controversy especially in light of the contradictions it has with the Quran and the question marks surrounding its authenticity.   Despite speculations about the discovered text being the famous Barnabas Gospel, which foresees the advent of Islam, nothing so far confirms this hypothesis, including the Turkish newspaper Zaman.

Someone’s just wanting to make a film and sell a book.  After all, Easter is just about a month away…  and we all know how the crackpots come out of the woodworks when the 28th of February dawns.

Iran’s War Against Christianity

The security authorities of Iran have taken action against the growth of Christianity and house church movement in Iran and have arrested many believers in different cities of Iran. In this connection, a 78 year old Christian lady has also been arrested in Esfahan.

According to reporters of Iranian Christian news agency, Mohabat News, Ms. Giti Hakimpour, a Christian minister who resides in Esfahan was arrested in her flat by security authorities.  The security authorities raided Ms. Hakimpour’s home at 6:00 a.m. on February 22, 2012, at the same time as the attack on Mr. Hekmat Salimi’s home. They arrested and transferred her to an unknown location.

If you’re the praying sort, pray for the Church in Iran.
