Catholics, Communion, and the Pez Dispenser

This cracks me up!

Our Catholic friends are going to have to rewrite their liturgy and change it to ‘The Body of Christ, the Pez of Heaven…’  [Via JD Trevors on G+)

I’m With You John Burri

Lowering the flag for Whitney Houston is an abomination.

When John Burri heard that New Jersey ordered flags flown at half-staff to honor Whitney Houston, he drove to his local Flags Unlimited store, bought a New Jersey state flag, brought it to his Michigan home, and burned it on his outdoor grill. “It was $12.95 and it was the best money I ever spent,” says the father of Army Spc. Eric Burri, who was killed in Iraq in 2005. Michigan’s governor ordered that state’s flags flown at half-staff for one day to honor Burri’s son, and it’s an honor that should be reserved for those who died in the line of service, Burri says.

For New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to order the same honor for Houston is “a slap in the face,” Burri tells the Detroit News. “It cheapens the meaning of lowering that flag. They’re watering down the meaning of a hero.”

It cheapens the meaning of the respect duly shown to those who have died in service to others.  Whitney Houston died, and it’s a tragedy, but she didn’t die on some field of battle or fighting some horrible blaze: she died from excessive self indulgence.  That hardly merits the same respect soldiers and patriots are shown.  So I’m with you John Burri.

Governor Christie is a disgrace.

Sage Advice from, of all Places, Mississippi!

I know, right?  ‘Can anything good come from Mississippi?’  You bet.  The Republican Presidential candidates one and all ought to read it.  It might help them correctly ‘take the country’s temperature’.

Culture Adrift

Exhibit 1

A small but growing number of teens and even younger children who think they were born the wrong sex are getting support from parents and from doctors who give them sex-changing treatments, according to reports in the medical journal Pediatrics.  It’s an issue that raises ethical questions, and some experts urge caution in treating children with puberty-blocking drugs and hormones.

What parents are willing to do in experimentation to their children rivals what Dr Mengele did to the ‘patients’ he ‘treated’ in the 1940’s.  Sex change for teens and pre-teens????  That’s evidence aplenty of a culture adrift.  No further exhibits necessary.

An 8-year-old second-grader in Los Angeles is a typical patient. Born a girl, the child announced at 18 months, “I a boy” and has stuck with that belief. The family was shocked but now refers to the child as a boy and is watching for the first signs of puberty to begin treatment, his mother told The Associated Press.

If you think an 18 month old knows what gender is you’re insane as a rabid raccoon.

That Picture Theme Meme Thing: The Tea Party

I’ll admit that the picture meme is getting on my nerves.  They’re getting more and more specialized and, I’ll just say it, doofy.  But this Tea Party one is spot on!  With thanks to Joel Watts on the FB-

And here’s the picture…

And that’s not even the best part.  Oh no.  Here’s the best part…

None of the animals were wearing seatbelts.

A Full Scale Replica of the Second Temple

With thanks to Aren Maeir for mentioning it on FB.  If you don’t read Hebrew, when the popup preceding the video opens you’ll need to click the gender radial (man is on the right) and then your age range.  Then click the highlighted arrow.

‘The Torah’: Jim Aitken on Irish Talk Radio

I mentioned the other day that Jim Aitken was going to be on Irish talk radio.  Now the link is up and if you go here and click on ‘Sunday the 19th”, and then on ‘Part 1’ you’ll be able to hear the exchange.

Jim did, as expected, a great job.  The interviewer and the others, well to be frank, not so much.
