Rick Perry, the potential Republican presidential nominee in 2012, has been accused of entertaining guests at a hunting camp called “Niggerhead.”
Mr Perry took friends, supporters, and politicians to the 1,070-acre retreat where he hosted turkey and wild hog shoots between 1983 and 2006. When the Texas Governor’s family began using the ranch in his home state there was already a sign bearing the offensive word at the entrance. Mr Perry now faces questions over how quickly he removed the sign, which was emblazoned on a large flat rock. The Washington Post spoke to seven people who remembered seeing the sign standing at the gate at various times in the 1980s and 1990s. One former ranch worker told the newspaper it was still there in 2008.
Really Rick? Really? Why wouldn’t his family – as soon as they purchased the property – have blown the rock up? He loves guns, why didn’t he just shoot it to smithereens? Why tolerate such ugliness even for a second? And even now, instead of making excuses, why doesn’t he just denounce the word and all it implies?
Normal people, when they see hateful things, do away with them first thing. I guess the key is ‘normal people’.
The more we discover about Perry, the less Presidential he looks and the more creepy.
