I’m Bummed Out

The logo of the blogging software WordPress.

I’ve just discovered, with my own eyes, that WordPress posts ads on my content and such ads are viewable on individual posts (rather than the home page).

That bums me out.  There’s no such thing as a free blog…  I apologize to one and all.  It isn’t my fault.

I have no qualms with WordPress making money.  I just wish I could approve ad types so that nothing improper is posted.

So, I’m bummed out.

This reminds me that I’ve been considering opening up a spot on the Biblioblog Library that gives free WordPress blogs to people who wish blog about Biblical Studies and try to encourage Biblical scholars who don’t currently blog to try it out.

Would also allow lots of fun things like javascript and custom themes. 🙂

    Peace,

I told you ages ago that they do that! And also that they charge you $30/yr. to take off the ads. Sick freaks.

Esteban, nothing “sick” about it (unless you know something about the ads they accept) it seems quite fair and honest to me that if you don’t pay for the hosting they get advertising money. If you and/or Jim and/or I don’t want Adverts we just pay a small sum to either host ourselves, using WPs free gift of software, or we pay them to host us ad free. Honest, fair and useful…

My beef is that I left Blogger, which is ad free, for WordPress, which is not. I blame Jim and Nick Norelli!
