Another Jesus Sighting: Or Why People Would Rather Imagine Seeing Jesus than Living Crucified Lives

Don Taylor said he was driving down a Littleton road when he spotted a vine that some might call divine.  It was a creeping vine on a utility pole that Taylor said resembles Christ on the cross.   “I’m a nonreligious individual, but this struck me,” the Highlands Ranch man told 7NEWS.   “And it was right across from a church, which I thought was really interesting.”

Why would he think it interesting?  Why would a self described non religious person even ‘see’ images of biblical persons?  I’ll tell you why- because people would rather imagine Jesus and an imaginary Jesus than ‘take up their cross’ and follow him.  Jesus at a distance, in a vine or slab of cheese or piece of toast is controllable.  The crucified and living Christ is anything but manageable.  Hence, in a desire to control, people see Jesus where they want to instead of allowing the world to see Christ’s power in their lives.

It’s the Jesus they prefer, because they aren’t about to die to themselves in order to live for Him.

Besides, the vine looks like a vine to me.  Just a vine on a pole.

Bloody pagans.

It looks like a loop of spaghetti on a fork left by my 3 year old daughter while watching the boogie man.
