Or rather, a corrupt government in Egypt misappropriated billions and billions of dollars.
A recent study by the Economic Research Center said deposed President Hosni Mubarak misappropriated US$185 billion – or 87 percent – of the total US$213 billion that Egypt received in foreign aid from 1982 until 2010.
Just imagine all the things that we could have done here in our own country for our own people with that kind of money. And that’s just one example of one country among hundreds that we shovel dollars into.
McCain may decry isolationism but there has to be some way to stop the bleeding before more of our resources are overseas than they are here. Unless McCain is getting some sort of kickback, in which case his urgings of foreign aid make perfect sense.
