House Republicans: Slashing Spending for Everyone (But Themselves)

Typical politicians.  So while there’s flutter aplenty and the country’s attention is diverted to Egypt on the one hand and the Super Bowl on the other, our greasy deceptive self serving evil ungodly pagan ‘Representatives’ (that’s a joke) are slashing pay resources for everyone but themselves.  Evidently hoping no one will notice and if they do that they won’t say anything…

Republicans now running the House are barely touching Congress’ own generous budget even as they take a cleaver to many domestic agencies.  A new GOP proposal would reduce domestic agencies’ spending by 9 percent on average through September, when the current budget year ends.  If that plan becomes law, it could lead to layoffs of tens of thousands of federal employees, big cuts to heating and housing subsidies for the poor, reduced grants to schools and law enforcement agencies, and a major hit to the Internal Revenue Service’s budget.  Congress, on the other hand, would get nicked by only 2 percent, or $94 million.

That’s right- everyone else, 9%.  Themselves, 2%.  Congressional dirtbaggery at its best.

Golddigger Alert…

Poor thing can’t live on $20,000 a month, so she had her baby daddy served while he was playing hoops…

Orlando guard Gilbert Arenas was served with child support and custody papers as he left the court during halftime of the Magic’s loss to Miami on Thursday night.  The court documents, obtained by The Associated Press, were a California petition filed by Laura Mendoza Govan. She identified herself as his ex-girlfriend in the documents.  The petition seeks custody and child support for three children that Govan says Arenas fathered and has since “financially cut off.” She is also seeking support for another unborn child, as well as monthly support for the other children.  In the petition, she is seeking $109,000 in monthly support payments from Arenas and $1.3 million annually.

He said he wasn’t surprised by Govan serving him with the petition. He also disputed her claim that he hasn’t supported her financially.  “I don’t pay much attention to it because this is who she is as a person,” he said. “It’s sad that it has to be in the public’s eye. She gets money. I mean when a girl asks for $100,000 a month and you say no, that doesn’t mean you’re cut off. You’re still getting 20. … That’s the thing that bothers me. She tells the world that she’s not getting money. She gets $20,000 a month.”

Poor thing… he surely can’t expect her to live on that paltry amount…

Fun Facts from Church History

In 16th century Geneva, they commemorated Jesus’ circumcision, but not his death.  Much to Calvin’s displeasure.

Switzerland Will Harbor a Child Molesting Director but Reject George Bush?

Official photograph portrait of former U.S. Pr...

Roman Polanski is harbored by the Swiss and Bush has to cancel a trip for fear of facing legal action and protests…

A planned trip to Switzerland next week by George W. Bush was canceled after human rights activists called for demonstrations and threatened legal action over allegations that the former president sanctioned the torture of terrorism suspects.  The New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights and several European human rights groups said they were planning to file a complaint against Bush and wanted Swiss prosecutors to open a criminal case against him once he arrived in the country.

Ok I’m no fan of the former President but that seems a bit- well- wrong.  Allowing Polanski and disallowing Bush is just absurd.

Vendyl Jones Still has Supporters?

I guess what PT Barnum said really was true- there’s a dilettante born every minute.   That’s why Jones still thinks the Copper Scroll is the key to finding the Ark of the Covenant.  Apparently he doesn’t know that it’s in Ethiopia…

Now if he could just be convinced to debate Eric Cline or Bob Cargill.  Or anyone really, besides the aluminum foil wearing hat people who buy into his nonsense.

Super Bowl Commercial: While Fox Rejected It, I’ll Gladly Play It (via Faith in Hand)

Fox Sports (USA)

we only air smutty ads

I’m with Stephen on this one. If Fox will air the filth they usually do there’s no reason to reject this one.

The commercial is meant to encourage fans to look up John 3:16 and consider its meaning… http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8HQElDwoOwE …The John 3:16 commercial was produced by Fixed Point, a religious advocacy group based in Birmingham, Alabama. The group was set to pay about $3 million to have the ad aired on Fox Sports during the Super Bowl this Sunday, which will reach over 100 million viewers. Religious leaders h … Read More

More Proof That Cats are Evil and are Trying to Take over the World

Cats are taking over the town of Taylorsville, KY, and there’s not much the 1,800 residents can do about it. NBC News reports that stray cats can be seen everywhere in the town — gas stations, homes, even resting on top of cars. For car lovers, this poses a problem, as paw prints stamp the sides of cars, and feces cover the car hoods.

Vile beasts.  Vile!  I know how to get rid of them.  All I need are a few guns, plenty of ammo, and a tank.  Say the word, Kentucky, and I’m on the way…

If You Hate Yourself…

Or know someone you hate, watch this horrifically idiotic theologically moronic piece of dilettantism.  With sort of thanks to Scott Bailey for telling me about it (because he hates me too).

Why people like this dreckish dolt have a single follower is life’s greatest mystery.

Should Christians Even Be Allowed to Join the Society of Biblical Literature? (via DR. JIM’S THINKING SHOP & TEA ROOM)

It’s precisely because of posts like this that I find Jim so fascinating, so readable, and so intriguing. But he’s no atheist. No, in spite of his claims that he is. Indeed, he will be in heaven. His ‘atheism’ is a front, a cover. Yes friends, you read that right. He’s heaven bound (whether he bloody well likes it or not- along with Crossley, Davies, and a few select elect redeemed chosen few).

Should Christians Even Be Allowed to Join the Society of Biblical Literature? Yes, of course. But now that I’ve got your attention, here’s a slightly belated Slinky Jazz Babe ™ to celebrate my Top 50 Alexa ranking on January’s Biblioblogger’s list!  I’m at # 37 on the Alexa rankings, a ranking based solely on the number of hits And I’m at #7 in the , Top 10 list based on reader’s votes! There aren’t a lot of votes cast, so this isn’t all that prestigious a ranking (yet) but for next month, you can vote for me be emailing b … Read More

But They Teach at ‘Accredited’ Schools…

Yet those accredited dollars paid to those accredited schools don’t ensure either a good education or a faculty worth hearing because of their moral bankruptcy.

Professors are supposed to serve as academic mentors and points of inspiration — but sometimes, their life-teaching skills just don’t make the grade.  …  check out 11 college professors (and administrators) who might ask you to “do as I say, not as I do.”

And of course, pay up!  But beware, you get what you pay for (which is all that most colleges and universities care about these days anyway).

On Christians and Politics: An Observation

It is an unceasing source of amazement to me that Christians ignore or overlook their theology simply in order to support a political ideology.

Too many Christians will ignore theological impropriety and downright heresy just to support their candidate. It’s truly outrageous and the main reason Christianity is dismissed and despised.

Is Ronald Reagan Sarah Palin’s Savior?

Sarah Palin in Savannah, Georgia, Dec 1, 2008 ...

Idolater and pagan

It sure sounds like she wants him to be her lord and her god.

America is on a “road to ruin” because of misguided policies in Washington and needs to get back in step with the values of Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin said at an event honoring the former president’s legacy.

Not only is Palin a quitter, a bad politician, a not too great person, she’s also an idolater worshiping at the altar of Reagan. The fact that she suggests the America is ‘out of step’ with Reagan betrays her as such for a true Christian doesn’t worry about being out of step with a politician, a true Christian is concerned about being out of step with the will of God.

And in spite of how much Palin wishes it were so, Reagan is no god and his ideology not the guidepost by which Christians are called to live.

If America is on the road to ruin it isn’t because it isn’t following Reagan, it’s because it isn’t following God.
