11 TO 13 APRIL 2011, YORK UNIVERSITY
Bookings are now open for the Society for the Study of Theology’s sixtieth annual conference.
This year’s theme is ‘Holy Writ? Authority and Reception‘ and questions we shall be addressing include: How and why is scripture authoritative? How should scripture be interpreted and by whom? How does scripture shape churches through collective and personal reading? What theological priorities have motivated specific translations of scripture, including of particular passages? How does scripture inform theology, and how authoritative is scripture for present-day theology? In what senses is scripture ‘holy’ and ‘inspired’? What about the offensive parts of scripture? Plenary speakers will include Serene Jones, Henk van den Belt, Walter Moberly, Hugh Pyper, Alexander Samely and Anthony Thiselton.
An early booking rate is available until 3 MARCH. Book before then to keep costs down! The final bookings deadline is 22 MARCH.
Short paper, seminar paper and bursary calls remain open until 17 February.
