They Don’t Make Awesome Cartoons Anymore

When I was a kid I couldn’t wait to get up Saturday morning so I could watch all the awesome cartoons.  Bugs Bunny, The Roadrunner, all the greats (which now sadly have been replaced by the most witless and feckless commercials called cartoons).  That’s right, I said it.  Cartoons today are nothing but 30 minute commercials for some stupid product the little darlings don’t even need.

Oh for the days when cartoons were cool…

I made a similar comment to my nephew this morning. He was watching some horrid thing on Nick Jr. and I wondered whatever happened to real Saturday morning cartoons.

Yeah, most modern Saturday morning fare can’t even be compared to the classic Loony Toons gang.

Of course, one could read these cartoons as also supporting commercialism; the coyote is always buying things from “Acme” corp. for technological extensions in order to catch the roadrunner. And as critiquing the same, as the natural smarts of the roadrunner always defeats the hi-tech coyote (Vietnam, Afghanistan). obliged.

The Flintstones. I still look at technology and imagine some critter inside driving bits and pieces. That’s why computes and things run slow – the critter on the wheel gets tired.
