More on the Appearance of Raphael Golb in Court Today

Attorney Raphael Golb, center, is seen outside the courtroom with his attorney Ron Kuby, left, during a recess in his trial at Manhattan State Supreme court, Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, in New York. Golb is on trial on criminal charges of online impersonation and harassment for the sheer sake of coloring opinion.

Golb did in fact take the stand.

Golb testified Monday that he is not materialistic. He described himself as a scholar, author and lawyer who spends his free time blogging about the scrolls. Golb has pleaded not guilty to identity theft, criminal impersonation and other charges. His lawyers say the writings amount to typical blogosphere banter – not crime.

Scholar? That’s a stretch.  Banter?  Now that’s trivializing crime and deception all the way.  It’s not banter when you mislead others and claim to be someone you aren’t just to exalt your dad’s theories.

  1. Why should “non-materialistic” be an excuse? If you got your wealth legally and use it with wisdom, there’s nothing wrong with it. If you use your poverty as an excuse for crime, that is neither legal nor wise.
