Jesus Code?

ABC News is becoming stranger and stranger by the day. They’re actually ‘reporting’ that a secret ‘Jesus code’ is inscribed on US weapons.

Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

Coded references? Really? Anyone who has even a passing familiarity with the New Testament could spot the inscribed references in half a second. But ABC loves to imagine conspiracy and controversy and craziness, so it’s pointing out this ‘code’.

Oh ABC- how you’ve fallen since Peter Jennings left.

“This is probably the best example of violation of the separation of church and state in this country,” said Weinstein. “It’s literally pushing fundamentalist Christianity at the point of a gun against the people that we’re fighting. We’re emboldening an enemy.”

Literally! I love spotting dumb uses of literally.

You probably like the ‘best’ part.

“Jn 8:12” is hardly secret among any New Testament readers, indeed.

Of course, since we are told we are in a post-biblical culture, I suppose a lot of people are befuddled.

I’m pretty conservative, don’t mind guns, but I admit some uses of scripture and religion by pro-gun/self-defense Christians strike me as odd. Definitely odd.
