[The Devil] is the “prince of the world,” to wit, of the wicked; for by interpretation it followeth, “He is the prince of the darkness of this world:” and who knoweth not that in the scriptures darkness doth signify ignorance, blindness, unbelief, ungodliness, and wickedness; and, to be short, ungodly men which are drowned in these vices? And again, there is added that which declareth the true meaning: “Which worketh in the children of disobedience.” Therefore the faithful and obedient, who are in the kingdom of Christ and not in the kingdom of the devil, are exempted from this rule and government. - Heinrich Bullinger
