An Interview With Joel Green: The Common English Bible

I wrote Joel and asked him to answer a series of questions about the Common English Bible.  Here below are my questions [JW] followed by Joel’s answers [JG].  I really appreciate his responses.  I am sure you will as well.

  1. I like the CEB; I just bought a Kindle version of the CEBA, which I’d rather have in eSword; but…

When I read a seminary professor saying his students are befuddled by what I presume is the NRSV, I weep for future pulpits.

And you wonder why seminaries don’t push the original languages anymore….

  2. Great interview – thanks. I smiled when I saw the part about future revisions to the CEB – I found a typo (an extra word) in one chapter that I was reading in Tobit. As an editor, I can understand how mistakes can slip past multiple proofreaders, but it’s still the first time I’ve seen a typo in a Bible.

  3. i thought the same thing. what??? seminary students, presumably college grads, cant get the nrsv???? i was pretty surprised.
