The Buddhists do believe in karma….
This was hilarious! Great share.
Wonderful new – and no doubt temporary – look as well!
Buddhists dont believe in reincarnation. You can be a Buddhist and be any other religion (including ones that believe in a Heaven) because Buddhism is NOT a religion…
Mr; Jobs had better hope he is in Heaven, the alternative is not a very nice place
There are many hells in Buddhism
Simply awesome !
Shannon you are clearly misinformed, buddhists -do- believe in reincarnation or rebirth. Ok there is a lot of debate among buddhists about what constitutes as rebirth or the movement of stream (or streams) of conciousness to the next aggregate form.
Also the term Religion comes from the latin Religiom meaning bond – hence religions being a fully encompassing bonding between man and the divine. Many faiths call this bond salvation or liberation where as a buddhist will call it enlightenment.
Yes buddhism isn’t a religion in the truest sense of the term, but it is still a set of spiritual guidelines towards a bonding with higher powers, only in this instance it is the universe itself according to the guidance of Buddha. Buddha may have been a man, but you only have to look around a buddhist temple to se they find it hard not to worship him!
Yeah Shannon is completely wrong. However, this cartoon also doesn’t make sense, because a Buddhist wouldn’t want to be reincarnated, they want to reach Nirvana.
most of you are right and again you are wrong at the same time.
i suggest before you go dancing about telling everyone what Buddhists think you read up on both Tao and Zen Buddhism. You may not know it yet, but you are likely a buddhist already.
And I agree with thedrag31. Just laugh and shut up.
Rebirth is not the same as reincarnation. Reincarnation implies new body. Rebirth doesnt.
I guess you all are missing the point here, in my humble opinion. I don’t think it’s about Buddihsm at all, but about the unacceptable conditions people work in factories (like in China, as the last drawing points out) assembling the IPod/Pad/Phone’s. Indeed it is a (political) cartoon, actually an accusation of the way Apple produces their machines. A bitter truth Mister Jobs unfortunately wasn’t very willing to talk about as it didn’t and doesn’t match with their marketing strategy. Buddhism or marketing? Ideology or exploitation?
thought you’d like this.
He can’t go to heaven because he won’t go anywhere with Gates.
lol
“Rebirth is not the same as reincarnation. Reincarnation implies new body. Rebirth doesn’t.”
No, reincarnation implies that there’s a permanent soul that gets a new body. Buddhists don’t believe in a permanent soul. Frankly, it’s not very clear to me what gets reborn, but it’s supposedly different from reincarnation. The metaphor I’ve seen is a candle being used to light another candle: it’s not really the same flame, it’s a new and different flame.
That’s why although I consider myself buddhist-ish, I think of rebirth as a metaphor. After all, rebirth isn’t the goal, and it isn’t good because you have to go through life again. It’s like being held back in 8th grade… again and again and again and again. it’s something you want to avoid, not something to seek.
Thus I think it’s a metaphor for repeated behavior patterns that are unhelpful, unproductive, or unskillful, that you find yourself doing and need to break out of.
Oh, also, in (at least some) Buddhist traditions, ‘you’ can be reborn in any of several ‘heaven realms’ or ‘hell realms’ (depending on your karma), not just reincarnated on Earth. But because nothing is permanent, your time in that heaven or hell realm is limited, after which you get reborn again elsewhere.
Supposedly. And again, I’m not sure what the ‘you’ is that is reborn. Maybe just a packet of karma, like the energy transferred from a moving billiard ball to a stationary one.
Thanks for the chuckle!!
I cannot judge him; God has. I as a Catholic know that he was not Catholic.
Funny picture though!
He came back as a soldering iron?
Angry Birds… That was the funniest part.
Actually, guys, I hate to point this out, but I’m pretty sure it’s..
JUST A COMIC.
You know, trying to be funny. Not really trying to be all serious. But I mean, hey. You might be right. Maybe it IS focused on causing you all to argue about a religion.
This was very funny XD
Glad I stopped by
lol that was funny….so my new iPad could be Steve jobs reincarnated
I love the absurd presumption that Jobs deserves to go to a heaven. Why? He was hated by those who knew him and loved by his products fanboys.
Love it!
The only reason Buddhism might not be considered a religion is because there is no “God” figure and in order to be considered a real religion, you must have at least one god.
re·li·gion/riˈlijən/
Noun:
1.The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.
2. Details of belief as taught or discussed.
but as you can see in the second definition, Buddhism is absolutely a religion and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.
this is funny, but @Ha its not really Karma its jst ironic
