Even the Atheists Think the (New) Angry Atheists are Silly

28 Jul

In this article, we will argue that that New Atheists are not heirs of the enlightenment and do not fundamentally challenge existing power structures and narratives in modern American society; instead they distract attention from important issues and scurrilously attack narratives that provide meaning for millions of people.

The angry atheists are merely the scurrilous purveyors of pointlessness.  I think that nicely sums up the work of both Avalos and Ehrman.  Read the whole essay, even if you find yourself in disagreement with bits of it.   With thanks to Deane Galbraith for mentioning it on the FB.
