It has abandoned the crystal clear teaching of scripture and thereby ceased to be Christianity at all in any meaningful sense of the word.
Scripture interprets our behavior while we interpret Scripture in order to determine our behavior. We, however, are not free to declare that Scripture is wrong and we must, at any cost, be right, merely to accommodate ourselves to culture or in order to ‘lure’ people to a faith which is not in any way accepting of their particular illicit activity.
To be sure, Christians are to extend love, compassion, mercy, and forgiveness to all who ‘bear the fruits of repentance’. But blanket ‘acceptance’ of behavior that is at odds with the teaching of Scripture is heresy. No matter how warm and fuzzy and tolerant that heresy makes us feel. Furthermore, the fact that the ‘Emergent’ movement is behind much of the effort to ignore Scripture on the subject (or twist it exegetically so that it says what emergents wish it to say) is telling.
There remains, for authentic Christianity, one ‘rule of faith’ and that is not culture, is it Scripture. Period.
Homosexuals may well be Christians, but they are Christians in need of repentance just as much as any other variety of sinners are in the same need.
I still see an inconsistency in embracing the tradition in Leviticus literally as Paul did (and Jesus most likely did too) and not acknowledging social historical origins and concerns, but not embracing every other biblical verse literally too.
anyway, as John Lyons correctly says, they will embrace it eventually, long after everyone else.

I was going to say that but it seemed mean. Mean but true. Baptists too will embrace homosexuality as a natural part of diversity in human sexuality but not til you are dead (and awaiting a glorious resurrection … when nobody loves each other sexually anyway. Gosh how dull)
