New Zealand’s Hobbit Crisis…

Thousands of New Zealanders took to the country’s streets on Monday to protest against possible plans to move production of Peter Jackson’s “Hobbit” movies overseas. With some dressed as hobbits or other characters from Middle Earth, they carried banners saying “New Zealand is Middle Earth” and “We Love Hobbits,” aiming to reassure nervous Hollywood studio executives rattled by a short-lived union boycott.

Some of them probably didn’t need to dress as Hobbits… if ya know what I mean…

  1. I thought it was a good idea to export production overseas. I’m dreading the hype. Reminds me of when I went to Perth unfortunately intercepting America’s Cup celebrations. It was like concrete tinsel town. I exited as soon as I scraped together the bus fare. It’ll be far worse at home. How revoulting. I never liked Tolkein anyway. Mr Ex did. Stupid blinking hobbits.

  2. I suppose as long as they stay in Matamata and don’t venture out coastwards, it’ll be OK.
