Professor Goren writes
“This article [EILAT MAZAR, WAYNE HOROWITZ, TAKAYOSHI OSHIMA and YUVAL GOREN: A Cuneiform Tablet from the Ophel in Jerusalem] just appeared today in the IEJ [Vol 60, #1, 2010]. It presents the first cuneiform tablet ever to be found in Jerusalem (though admittedly, it is a small fragment). It is also the first publication of the new method recently developed in the Laboratory for Comparative Microarchaeology, of provenancing clay cuneiform tablets using a portable X-Ray Fluorescence apparatus (pXRF). Full publication of this method is planned to be published in JAS.”
I’m going to dive right on in as soon as I post this.
