Barbara Bowe died peacefully on Sunday, March 14th, 2010. A formal obituary and funeral arrangements are to be expected in the near future.
Barbara was an integral part of the Catholic Theological Union as well as a member of the Catholic Biblical Association of America.
She received both her Masters and Doctorate in New Testament and Christian Origins from Harvard University, and also holds a Masters degree in Religious Education from Boston College. Her dissertation on First Clement, A Church in Crisis: Ecclesiology and Paraenesis in Clement of Rome, was published by Fortress Press in 1988 as part of the Harvard Dissertations in Religion Series.
She published a couple of volumes but her legacy lies primarily in her teaching. She was loved by her students (according to those known to me who studied with her). May she rest in peace.
